📆 When: From August 10th to August 12th 2018 10:00am - 7:00pm
📍 Where: The Capital
About: The Bendigo Writers Festival takes place in the heart of Bendigo's View Street arts precinct. The festival provides a forum to meet and talk about books and writing, and, mostly, to enjoy the conviviality of a festival set in View Street, Bendigo. There are interviews and debates about everything; you can be sure you’ll find something to delight, amuse, intrigue and stimulate. And we're inviting everyone to share in a warm and friendly winter weekend. In its sixth year, Bendigo Writers Festival has dug deep to find new ways to offer audiences rich entertainment for a truly inspiring winter long weekend. New events and venues, plus brilliant international guests and a dazzling line-up of Australian writers.
This year's program kicks off on Thursday 9 August at beautiful Fortuna Villa, with a "Time Travel" dinner featuring historian Tom Griffiths.
And we finish by Burning Bridges with the brilliantly funny Kitty Flanagan, in the Capital Theatre on Sunday 12 August.
In between - good country, good life, writing wrongs, a cooking demonstration with Tony Tan, crime-starter and poetry-starter workshops, a bevy of international guests including Ann Cleeves, Lemn Sissay, Sarah Sentilles, Matt Haig and the extraordinary singer songwriter from Norway via Poland, Bente Kahan.
We celebrate greats such as Henry Reynolds, Helen Caldicott and Alex Miller, and we welcome newcomers such as Susi Fox, Drew Rooke and Jay Carmichael.
